"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Off the Back of the Boat- June 23

This was a really nice spot. It's called Lost Bay and is on the other side of where we usually go on Beausoleil Island. The weather was perfect and we had nice company, too. The picture itself was one of those happy accidents; I didn't even notice the shore reflection until I looked at the shot on the camera.

Wildlife spotted: two loons, a blue heron, three mallards, a snapping turtle, a red fox, several gulls, plus the huge pike our friends caught and released. We thought it was history for a bit, as it sat just under our swim platform without moving for nearly 20 minutes. But then it was gone, so we hope it lives to be seen another day.

It's really sad when 10:30 translates to "late"

Every morning this week I have woken up in a blur of exhaustion, and I have sworn as I gazed at my bleary face in the bathroom mirror that I would get to bed really early that night. Like 9 o'clock.

It's 10:30. I want to take a bath. I want to play some games. I want some more wine. I don't wanna go to bed!!!

*sigh* Only 5 more days. Then I can sleep in for at least 5 days.

Note to Self

You cannot have vodka in the house. Really.

Think of it like that boy in university. Remember him? The one you were so madly in love with, but who just wanted to be friends. The one you more or less stalked obsessively for nearly two years? Sure, you got tingles of delight every time you "accidentally" ran into him, but, in the long run, there was nothing but tears and heartache.

Face it: vodka is Kevin Reese.

Off the Back of the Boat

I think this is the first travelling version of OTBOTB. We had friends up this weekend and it wasn't until we were heading back to the marina that I realized I hadn't taken a photo yet. So enroute, it is.

Why I am a bit annoyed with The Sopranos

Spoilery. Kinda.

I am annoyed with The Sopranos series finale. Not because I think that David Chase is trying to mess with our expectations, or because it is unsatisfying or any of the various opinions making the rounds. No, I am specifically annoyed because last night, as we were watching the final moments, our DVR stopped, it's recording at the end. Yes, mere moments before the ending of the series, during a scene that had us nervous as cats. After my shrieks of dismay had subsided, I set it up to tape again at 12:30 and went to bed. Where I couldn't sleep because I kept wondering "Who will die? All of them? Tony? Meadow? What horrible fate awaits the Soprano clan as they munch their onion rings?". No, seriously, my thoughts kept me awake for a ridiculously long time. So, this morning, as I ate my breakfast, I sped through the re-taped episode to the end and got to just before where the tape had cut off previously.

10 seconds later, the episode ended. Just ended. Maybe it's brilliant. Maybe it's crap. But damn...I lost sleep over that?
